Hugo Lloris captained the French against Germany in a friendly yesterday in Saint-Denis. Although the French lost 2-1, the captain played a superb game, couldn’t so anything about the two goals and was voted France’s best player of 2012 by the country’s Federation of National Associations of Blues Supporters (FANS), an award which the goalie received after the game.
Lloris was an 8 out of 10. One of my favorite highlight was when he made that awesome save from a Mertesacker header in the first half.
Lloris v Germany:
Best minutes in the game (via goal.com):
13′ Podolski beats his Arsenal team-mate Sagna for pace and whips in a cross, but Llrois claims it with ease.
21′ OFF THE BAR!! Ozil delivers the resulting corner to the near post and Mertesacker, whose header is touched onto the woodwork by Lloris.
54′ Germany are really turning the screw now. Howedes plays it through to Muller, but Lloris gets out of his goal and saves well.
70′ It’s a Germany shot, but it’s not a great one. Muller tries his luck from 20 yards, but it’s an easy, easy save from Lloris. They’ll have to do better than that.
After the match, the gardien did a little interview:
What feeling predominates after this defeat?
There is obviously disappointment when there is defeat. But remember the positive, it was a good performance. We made some mistakes that we paid cash. Against a team like Germany, it does not forgive.
Why is there still a class difference between you and Germany?
If you play against such teams you must make very few mistakes. We did too and it allowed them to have a monopoly of the ball and especially to the two goals.
This is a stop that allows you to challenge before Spain?
There was no need to defeat this challenge, it’s disappointing but it’s still positive. It was solid, it has to compete in midfield especially in the first half. They had a good conservation, especially with Özil and it was not easy to do. It lacked a bit of efficiency, but it’s part of the game
It is a defeat for concern?
In order to win these kind of games, we need everyone to be at 200% and at its best. Must generate greater collective strength. What counts above all is to qualify for the FIFA World Cup 2014 and especially closer to such teams.
