Talking about clean sheets. Hugo ‘Boss’ Lloris just keep raking in those clean sheets that his opponents must be getting sick of it by now.
Yesterday, Spurs played their 4th game in the Europa League tournament away to Sheriff and won 2-0, with goals from Jan Vertonghen and Jermain Defoe. Hugo Lloris was kept busy though. He kept Sheriff out the entire game and he also made some very good saves. He was quick, he was efficient, he was exceptional, he was my Man of the Match alongside Vlad Chiriches.
Lloris minutes via goal.com:
8′ Well claimed by Lloris! A Sheriff corner is rebounded back to Cadu, who delivers from deep on the left flank, aiming for the back post. Hugo Lloris rises early and high to grab the delivery easily.
53′ Lloris is quickly off his line to deny Isa the opportunity to take the ball around the goalkeeper, and the Frenchman certainly stakes a claim for the best sweeper keeper in football. Lloris then claims a cross with ease.
He did quite more than those minutes. Had it not been for him at times, Sheriff would have sure;y conceded, although he did concede at one point, but it was ruled off side.
The keeper sweeper has now kept four clean sheets in the four games he has starred in: Dinamo Tbilisi, Tromso IL, Anzhi and now Sheriff. Also, he has kept four back to back clean sheets in his last games: 2 for France (against Australia & Finland) and 2 for Spurs (against Aston Villa and Sheriff).
Can he make it 5 this weekend when Spurs host Hull City? Stay tuned.
